Dear Very important person 2010 marks Brand inc’s 7th year in design. From its humble beginnings in a small garage to the multi-staffed, multi-million rand operation it is today, the journey has been eventful, stressful and mostly a whackload of fun. Although, in that garage in 2003, it was envisioned that the company would mainly handle corporate identity and overall brand strategy (hence the name), the route Brand inc ultimately took was that of sport and event-related design. Today, we’re proud of our track record, the amazing jobs we’ve worked on and the incredibly generous and smart* clients we have, many of whom we consider our friends. We know that we’re only as good as our clients believe we are, and I’d like to take this opportunity to brag a little about the clients we have, and some of the jobs we’ve worked on. |

Last year SA Rugby gave us the opportunity to pitch on developing the advertising and branding campaign for the SAA National Club Champs tournament. This was new territory for us, as Brand inc has always behaved like a design agency, and now needed to deliver like an advertising agency. We took the challenge head-on and came up with the 16 Clubs in 7 days campaign, and developed a very off the wall and fun creative look and feel for all the deliverables (print ads, posters, flyers and billboards) which were aimed at the student market. We won the pitch, and the campaign was a success! 2. SLAM Unite A Nation Campaign |

SLAM gave Brand inc the fantastic opportunity of being involved in developing the creative around the “Support Your Country” and “United a Nation” campaigns for Bafana Bafana. We developed multiple building wraps, billboards, posters and adverts. Brand inc was honoured to be involved in a campaign that backed our boys in the World Cup! 3. Our favourite new client! (among many old favourites) We met with Mr Nkosana Khosa, the Marketing Director of Orlando Pirates earlier this year, 2 weeks before one of the big Pirates vs Chiefs derby matches. He briefed us on coming up with a new design for the VIP suite tickets for the match. Mr Khosa liked the designs so much that he called us in to recce Orlando Stadium to apply a similar look and feel to various spaces around the stadium. The catch was that we only had a week and a half to design, print and install. No sweat! We are currently involved in various projects with Pirates that will be rolled out soon.

Over the last 4 years, Brand inc has been responsible for the design of all the collateral around these prestigious golfing events. From overall theme design through to branding and production of the smallest items, we’ve been involved in some incredible tournaments. It’s been fantastic working with Trinergy Brand Connectors, who run these events, and even though there have been some late nights and tough deadlines, it’s awesome being a part of golfing history. 5. Another outrageous deadline! We pitched on this event along with SAIL about 3 months before the event was to take place. SAIL won the pitch and then the fun and games began :-) We were notified 3 weeks before the event that it was game on! Various event and branding collateral were developed relatively quickly, and all seemed to be going pretty smoothly... but wait... the Monday before the event, we were called in to recce Gallagher Estate for multiple branding options for Miss World 2009. This included various banners, directional signage and multiple large scale branding solutions like 25m X 4m and 4.5m X 2m banner drops. Well, let me tell you... what a stressful week! We got approval on all the layouts at 5PM on the Wednesday. Our loyal and trusty suppliers worked non-stop from that moment till literally midnight on the Saturday morning to make sure that all was printed, manufactured an installed correctly. This process included our managing director up a ladder assisting and managing the installation team at Gallagher on the Friday night. 6. IRB George Sevens Tournament |

Brand inc. has been putting together all the creative elements for the IRB George 7’s tournament since 2005 and with the success of the SAA National Club Champs campaign, SA Rugby again gave us the opportunity to pitch on developing the advertising and branding campaign for the 2009 George Sevens tournament. We had to up our game further on this one as the magnitude of this tournament is far greater than the NCC campaign, and is viewed on a global basis broadcasting to millions of people. The Push the Tempo campaign was developed. We wrote a song for the campaign that was adapted for the radio and TV commercials. We also designed sequential posters that would each have a verse from the song, with the catch line on the last poster in the sequence. This created fantastic continuity from the TV and radio commercials. Once again, the campaign and tournament were a roaring success!

Brand inc partnered up with The Advertising Booth to assist in executing all the deliverables, and logistics required for the Bonitas Medical Fund activation at the Comrades 2010. The magnitude of this project far exceeded any that we had done before. We designed a new look and feel for the campaign as well as handling all the exhibition stand designs and production, all exhibition and race day branding, including at the start, 2 hotspots and at the finish line. We also executed all the television, radio and print media. The feedback that we received from client as well as event organisers was extraordinary, all were very impressed and the brand exposure far exceeded any previous campaigns. A job well done! |

Check out our portfolio on our website. There’s so much more for you to see. It’s clear from the examples above that Brand inc is becoming the premiere sports-related design company in South Africa – and we’re really proud of that. Moving forward into 2011 and beyond, we aim to push the boundaries of creativity and delivery even more, because we love doing what we do! |

Let’s go for lunch, I’ll show you our new (heavy) portfolio and discuss ways to enhance your brand, campaign or event. We’ll find solutions, and make good things happen! All you have to do is... |
